The Abu Dhabi Appellate Court on Monday looked into the case of 3 young GCC men, charged with forming a gang while they were in their confinement and agreeing to assault another inmate.
During the trial, the three suspects denied the charges, stressing that more than 200 inmates were involved in the fight.
The also told the court that the victim waived the lawsuit before the judge and demanded their acquittal and the annulment of the ruling of the court of first instance, jailing them for a month.
The court adjourned the verdict to Tuesday, January 14th session, and amend the charge to be beaten without conniving.
In a seperate event, an Asian driver, 25, took advantage of a European woman sitting next to him in the front seat and taking a nap to molest her.
According to the official records for the case, which Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday, the defendant confessed that he committed the crime after the victim, 31, started molesting him under the influence of alcoholic beverages. He took advantage of her nap and took her to an empty road and molested her after he had disconnected the cables of the car’s camera.
In her testimony, the victim said as the defendant was molesting her she woke up from her nap and reprimanded him. He then stopped molesting her and told her that as she was under the influence of alcoholic beverages, so he wanted to please her. As soon as the victim reached her house, she notified the Roads and Transport Authority and was told that she would have to call the police. In a sepertate event, a 35-year-old Asian molested a 10-year-old girl, when he was helping her mother put items she bought from a cooperative in the car.
The victim’s mother testified that after shopping, the suspect went out with her to help her put her things in the car where her daughter was in the front seat. She added the suspect asked the girl’s mother to put the egg carton in front so that it would not break and he put it under the front seat next to the driver’s and left.
