Saudi arrests most dangerous wanted terrorist: State TV

Saudi Arabia arrested a man in Qatif, eastern Saudi Arabia, after he opened fire on a security patrol, state-run Al Ekhbariya TV said on Tuesday, adding that he was wanted for robberies on vehicles transporting cash.

The Ekhbariya report described the man as the "most dangerous wanted terrorist."

State TV identified the man as Mohammed Hussein Al Ammar and said he had been wanted since 2016 for attacks on security forces and robbing vehicles transporting cash.

The incident in the oil-producing Eastern Province comes at a time of heightened regional tensions after a top Iranian general was killed in a US drone strike last week.

Saudi security services regularly carry out operations in Qatif.

Riyadh has accused Tehran of backing militant attacks on security forces in the region.
