An accident took place at the Sharjah Airport road on Saturday morning due to heavy rain. Driver lost control of his vehicle because of the slippery road, causing the car to flip. Police patrols rushed to the scene. They cordoned out the car crash site and police are investigating the accident.
However, Sharjah Police called upon motorists to drive with full caution, especially in the flooded main and side roads.
According to the weather forecast, heavy rains are expected to continue until Sunday.
The local Crisis and Disaster Management team of the Sharjah Police, confirmed its readiness to deal with all emergency situations, which are reported on the emergency number (999) and (901).
Moreover, the team also urged the public to follow all safety guidelines and instructions given by police and concerned authorities. The public are advised not to drive on flooded roads that may pose a threat to their lives and safety, especially valleys, mountain areas, and beach areas.
Furthermore, Sharjah Police warned motorists and the public regarding flooded routes that are being shut down, and traffic will be diverted to alternative routes. The routes that are shut down are Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road, Maliha Road, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road.
Separately, the Sharjah Police, represented by the Punitive and Correctional Establishment, deployed the “Vehicle of Hope,” in collaboration with the “Friends of Patients in Sharjah,” to help transport elderly inmates and People of Determination to hospitals and treatment centres.
Brigadier Ahmed Shuhail, Director-General the Punitive and Correctional Establishment, attended the launch of the vehicle, which has special features and aims to provide the best services.
Shuhail noted that this new service reflects the leadership’s vision to provide the best services to all local people while meeting the strategic targets of the ministry related to encouraging innovation and improving customer service.
