A 28-year-old Filipino expat in Dubai has been charged in court for creating a fake parking ticket to avoid payment.
According to public prosecution records, the parking offender confessed to typing the ticket and printing it on his own, copying the official one issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
He went ahead to wrap the forged ticket with a transparent sticker and then placed it on his car, he confessed during interrogation.
He was caught on Aug. 8 last year, when a parking inspector was doing rounds in Jumeirah.
“I was on Al Wasl road, Jumeirah, when I spotted the defendant’s car. I checked the ticket placed in front but its details were not clear,” said the inspector.
The inspector went ahead to call the RTA’s permits section, which confirmed that it was an expired ticket. The information made him call the police.
The defendant was charged with forgery and the case was registered at the Bur Dubai police station.
The case has been adjourned until Jan. 28.
