The Dubai Pubic Prosecution referred a 36-year-old Mexican citizen to criminal court for punching his colleague to death.
Investigations revealed that the defendant and the victim were from the same country and working together. Both the men were also sharing the room in the staff residential camp.
However, a witness testified that he saw the defendant, who seemed under the influence of alcohol, heading to the receptionist at the residential camp.
The receptionist could not understand his native language, and the witness noticed the ongoing confusion and stepped in to address the defendant.
The defendant explained to the witness that a dispute took place in his room between him and the victim, escalating into a fist fight.
He also claimed that the victim attacked him first.
The witness said that I went to the defendant room where I saw the victim lying down on his face motionless and was bleeding from nose.
The witness then attempted to revive the victim but in vain.
The witness rushed back to the reception to call an ambulance and inform the authorities.
