China's President Xi Jinping said on Monday that a new virus which has killed three people and infected more than 200 across China must be "resolutely contained", in his first public comments on the outbreak.
State broadcaster CCTV reported that Xi said "the safety of people's lives and their physical health should be given top priority", as the virus fuelled fears of a major outbreak during the Lunar New Year migration this week.
