A man in his 50s stood for trial in Ajman’s criminal court on Tuesday for allegedly murdering his wife because of a mobile recharge card.
The Gulf national allegedly beat his wife, following a verbal dispute over recharge card. The ambulance personnel confirmed her dead upon arrival and the police were informed.
Ajman Public Prosecution completed all investigations into the case and charged the accused with intentional murder and assault, and referred the case with a list of evidence to the court in preparation for trial.
The defendant admitted to hitting her, he added that he spoke to her after she fell to the ground and asked her to wait for the shops to open in the morning, and he pulled her out of the room while she was lying on the prayer mat, and at 9am the next day, he left the house to buy the card.
The forensic report indicated the body of the victim suffered traumatic injuries that led to her death.
