Police to launch ‘Sail Safely’ service soon

A new service is soon to be launched by the Dubai Police General HQ, titled “Sail Safely”, that is dedicated to communicating with those who are lost in the sea, using the latest technologies and AI systems.

Brigadier General Khalid Nasser Al Razouki, Director of the General Directorate of Artificial Intelligence, explained that the developed application operates by finding and describing the accurate location of missing sailors, which helps rescuers respond faster to emergencies.

“The application operates by automatically sending fours distress signals (messages) that ranges up to 7 nautical miles in depth, and 70 nautical miles along coasts of Dubai Emirate. Such service enables finding quick and efficient solutions,” Brig. Gen. Al Razouki added.

Furthermore, Brig. Gen. Al Razouki stressed on the keenness of the Dubai Police to maintain safety of all fishermen and sea-goers, and provide the necessary communication channels to be used during emergencies. He pointed out that the “Sail Safely” application enables police officials to locate its user and learn about details of his sail trip, through a smart platform with a special control screen that is connected to operations.

The application includes several features besides the distress signal, such as tracking trips,  sending alerts on late trips, locating diving spots, quick response and accurate locating the distressed, identifying the type and severity of distress, and providing free and easy-to-read nautical charts.

Last but not least, Brig. Gen. Al Razouki, pointed out his keenness to achieve ultimate customer happiness by working side to side with the Dubai Police, following organised and accurate systematic plans and using modern monitoring devices.

Dubai Police are leaving no stone unturned in maintaining the safety and security of the people.

They are not only patrolling areas all over the emirate to be on the lookout for criminals and scupper their bid to stage a theft or robbery, they are also carrying out initiatives for the public good.

Recently their ‘Positive Soul’ drive helped in dramatically curtailing the crime rate, helping over 15,000 people.

The event held over 40 sports events and conducted more than 70 awareness lectures to spotlight the values of tolerance and co-existence.

 Now the force announced their readiness to host the second edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2020 on Sunday at the Training City – Al Ruwayyah.

 Held under the patronage of Lt General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, and organised by the Dubai Police, the UAE SWAT Challenge 2020 will witness fierce competition among 54 teams from 30 countries who will compete in different scenarios such as rescuing hostages or injured officers, taking the tower challenge and overcoming obstacle courses.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, inspected the force’s readiness to host the major competition and toured the site of the contest, accompanied by Major General Abdullah Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Organisation Protective Security and Emergency at the Dubai Police, Head of the UAE SWAT Challenge Organising Committee, and a number of on-field organisers.

Maj-Gen Al Marri inspected the location designated for the SWAT training, and witnessed some of the ongoing training carried out by the teams of Saudi Arabia and the Chechen Republic, in addition to the team of the Ministry of Interior of the UAE.

Maj-Gen Al Marri directed the organisers to meet the needs of the participating teams, provide them with all forms of support, and ensure that all teams were fully aware of the competitions’ laws and regulations.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police praised the level of readiness achieved by the organising committee and concluded his visit by meeting the judges’ panel which includes 34 members from the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.
