Abu Dhabi computer programmer steals electronic devices on his first day at work

The Abu Dhabi Appellate Court postponed to Feb.17 the case of an Asian charged with stealing devices from the company he worked for on his first working day.
According to the case papers, the company where the suspect worked as a computer programmer informed the authorities that the suspect stole electronic devices from the main control room.

On being questioned, the suspect denied the charges, requesting the annulment of the Court of First Instance ruling sentencing him to a 5-year jail term followed by deportation.
Recently, the Supreme Federal Court upheld an appeal fining a suspect Dhs100,000, after he was charged with giving a dud cheque for Dhs68 million to a bank.
The court affirmed the suspect confessed to issuing the cheque, and that he was responsible for issuing it.
The Public Prosecution referred the appellant to the criminal court for issuing a cheque for Dhs68 million in bad faith, to a bank.
The Court of First Instance sentenced in absentia the suspect to 3 years in jail and a fine of Dhs100,000.
