Valentine’s Day has just passed by, though love for many is still in the air. Romance is all fine when it is hunky-dory, but the problem arises when it goes wrong. It is then that the roses become thorns and the chocolates turn very bitter.
From time to time, we come across instances of young people going haywire after having strained relations, or breaking up, with their partners or girlfriends. Either they assault them, blackmail them into coughing up money, threaten to name and shame them on social media, or warn of attacking their family members.
The man damaged the cars as an act of revenge.
In the latest instance, a young man was arrested by Dubai Police for damaging the car of his ex-fiancee. He not only poured liquid solvent over her car but also over three vehicles belonging to her family.
The director of Bur Dubai Police Station, Brigadier Abdullah Khadem Bin Suroor, said the force responded to a report filed by the victim and her family claiming that their cars were mysteriously damaged while parked outside their house in Al Quoz area. "The CCTV footage of the victims' residence showed masked perpetrators on motorcycles pouring chemical liquids over the cars before fleeing the crime scene," Brig. Bin Suroor said.

With the use of latest technologies and thorough investigations Dubai Police identified one of the offenders at a public place as he fit the criminal profile considering his physique and wearing the same distinctive clothes he wore when the crime was committed.
"During the interrogation, the offender confessed to his crime and said that he committed the crime with the help of two friends. He justified his criminal deeds as a revenge to a dispute over some money and gifts that his ex-fiancée refused to return when they had broken the engagement," Suroor added.
According to Suroor, the man's anger was triggered when his ex told him off and said: "I owe you nothing!"
