The Sharjah Criminal Court has adjourned a case in which five Asians were charged with killing another by hitting him with a sharp tool.
According to the public prosecution’s investigations the five defendants possessed alcoholic beverages for trafficking purposes and were at odds with the victim.
The incident occured when a dispute between the five and the victim snowballed into a fight, and one among the five, used an iron tool to hit the victim’s head, causing his death.
In the court, the defendants have denied attempting to kill the victim and trafficking in alcoholic beverages. The first and fifth defendants, however, have confessed to the last charge.
When they were asked about their confessions before the public prosecutions regarding the fight, the defendants claimed that fear was the reason they confessed, while the fifth said his confessions were taken under coercion.
The defendants’ lawyer has requested the court to adjourn the case for submtting her defence memo. The court has adjourned the case till March 15.
