UAE tells residents not to travel over coronavirus concerns

The coronavirus outbreak has affected many lives of professionals and homemakers alike the world over, derailing their programmes. However, there are some people who carry on with their plans, particularly those wishing to go overseas either on official or company work or spend holidays.

In this context the UAE on Thursday warned its citizens and its foreign residents not to travel anywhere abroad amid the ongoing worldwide coronavirus outbreak.

The country's Ministry of Health warning comes as the country coordinated with various embassies to evacuate Arab nationals from hard-hit Hubei in China to a quarantine set up in the Emirates Humanitarian City. They include citizens of Egypt, Sudan and Yemen.
Health officials warned that those travelling abroad could face quarantine themselves at the discretion of authorities. The UAE is home to some 9 million people, with only about a million estimated to be Emiratis.
