VIDEO: Driver survives after car falls into Dubai Creek

The Dubai Police’s Maritime rescue team has pulled out a vehicle from Dubai Creek on Tuesday, after the driver lost control and fell into the water. The driver managed to get out of the car before it could sink and swam to safety.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Qassib Al Naqbi, Director of the Maritime Rescue Division at Dubai Police, stated that the Command and Control Centre had received a call at 11:53pm about the incident.

Within four minutes, maritime rescue teams reached the scene. Teams found that the driver had already climbed a ladder and got to the sidewalk. An ambulance arrived to the scene to treat the minor injuries of the driver.

The vehicle was located at 37ft and 130 metres away from the crash site. Divers found the car positioned upside down, and was lifted out of the Creek by a crane.

Lt. Col. Al Naqbi urged drivers to drive with more caution and adhere to traffic rules to avoid such incidents from taking place and ensure their safety and the safety of others.

Last year in June, the Sharjah security departments fished out two vehicles from Khalid Lagoon in Al Khan area opposite the Sharjah Courts Complex.

The rescue teams at the Central Operations Department of the Sharjah Police, following intensified efforts, succeeded in pulling out the dead body of a driver who was stuck in one of the two vehicles.

The two vehicles were found to be unlicensed after they had been pulled out from the water.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver who died was responsible for the incident. He hit the second car parked near the coast. Both the cars then fell into the lagoon.
