Dubai, the regional tourism and business hub, shuttered cinemas, arcades and gyms over the fear of coronavirus spread in the country.
Dubai's large Global Village shopping and entertainment market, which runs from November to March each year, said it was closing early. The UAE capital Abu Dhabi shut down public beaches and parks.
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange said on Sunday it was closing all its trading halls until further notice, a day after Kuwait's bourse said it would do the same.

The Department of Economic Development (DED) directed all cinemas, theme parks, amusement games and electronic game centres, bodybuilding and fitness gyms and spring camps licensed in Dubai to halt activities and services until the end of the month.

Dubai Municipality said it was temporarily closing all public parks and entertainment venues in line with precautionary measures to safeguard public health, starting on March 15, 2020 until further notice.
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority announced the temporary closure of museums, historical sites and public libraries in Dubai with immediate effect, from Sunday, till the end of the month.
Global Village announced the early closure of its 2019-2020 season with immediate effect.
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) directed that all events in #Dubai should be suspended from Sunday till the end of the month.
The DTCM also directed all entertainment destinations to suspend operations and all hospitality establishments and wedding halls to suspend wedding events or celebrations from Sunday 15 March 2020 till the end of the month. Inspections will be carried out to verify compliance with this circular.
