The provincial assembly lawmaker Anita Mehsud cancelled her wedding ceremony to comply with the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government ban on social gatherings and shutdown of wedding halls amid novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic fear.
Family of the lawmaker told local media that the decision was taken in light of the provincial government directives and also to set an example for others to follow so that the virus does not spread in the province.

The wedding ceremony of the female lawmaker was on March 16.
Anita Mehsud, a Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) loyalist, was elected on a reserved seat for women from the once insurgency-hit South Waziristan tribal area.
South Waziristan, the largest tribal district in the recently merged Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), has never had any representation in the provincial assembly before 2019.
