The Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality closed two cafes over failing to abide by the preventive decision issued by the municipality to ban shisha amid steps to combat the coronavirus.
This came during the inspection campaigns conducted by the General Services and Environment Department within the framework of the precautionary measures taken by the country to curb the spread of the new coronavirus "Covid 19".
Earlier this week, the competent authorities banned serving shisha of all kinds in all hotels, tourist establishments, cafes and restaurants.

Eng. Hassan Salem Al Yamahi, Director General of the Municipality, stressed the importance of adhering to the instructions and decisions issued by the government, adding there will be zero tolerance in penalising any facility that fails to comply with the preventive procedures.
He also called on the public to take the matter seriously and cooperate with the authorities to achieve the desired goals of the measures that were put in place to protect workers in those establishments and the society in general.
The Department of Economic Development in Dubai, in cooperation with the Dubai Municipality, has shut nine cafes that failed to abide by the preventive decisions issued by the DED on 12 March. Among the regulations stated are to stop serving shisha, as part of the precautionary measures aimed at achieving the highest levels of health and safety for the community.
Earlier, the DED-Dubai directed all cafes in the emirate to refrain from serving shisha immediately and for two weeks.
The violating cafes that have been closed are located in Dubai Marina, Al Murar, International City and Al Muteena, as part of the joint inspection campaigns carried out by the department with the Dubai Municipality, to ensure that all ports comply with the instructions issued.
Since the issuance of the decision, the inspectors of DED and Dubai Municipality have conducted a complete inspection of the market to ensure the commitment of all.
