VIDEO: Dubai radars catch motorists violating law during National Sterilisation Programme

Dubai Police have activated their radar system to catch motorists who do not follow the ‘Stay At Home’ initiative instructed by the UAE government during the National Sterilisation Programme.

The initiative is to stem the spread of coronavirus infections in the country.

The radars were readjusted to catch the violators travelling between 8pm and 6am.

A video circulating on social media showed the radar flashing several times on a road.

Several motorists have complained that they have witnessed flashes while they were well within the speed limit on the roads.

Police have urged motorists to procure a travel permit to avoid fines.

Meanwhile, the UAE Public Prosecution said a fine of Dhs2,000 will be imposed for venturing out of unnecessarily, a Dhs1,000 for exceeding the number of passengers allowed in the car and Dhs1,000 for not wearing medical masks in crowded places.

Dubai introduced a new website to issue permits to move outside for essential purposes during the hours of National Disinfection Programme running for three days from 8pm to 6am.

The UAE Health Ministry announced on Friday the detection of 72 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and the recovery of 3 more individuals.

Dubai Municipality commenced a three-day expanded campaign to disinfect the emirate’s areas in cooperation with government departments, as part of a comprehensive plan that targets utilities and public places with the use of advanced devices and technologies in accordance with international best practices followed in this regard.
