Residence visas to be automatically renewed for 3 months in UAE

The UAE Cabinet has approved a package of new decisions in line with the precautionary measures taken by the government against repercussions of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) on various sectors in the country.

The decisions aim to ease the current circumstances for the citizens, residents and visitors, to preserve health and safety, and to ensure the workflow and continuity of government work in various sectors.

The Cabinet approved extending of residence visas that ended from the first of March, 2020, or within the period specified by this decision, for three months subject to renewal, and without any additional charges at renewal, in addition to exemption of any fines incurred by the current conditions.

The Cabinet also directed to stop the administrative fines for violations resulting from the services provided by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship approved by the Cabinet, for a period of three months, starting from the April 1, 2020, and to be renewable.

The Cabinet further approved a decision that allows a temporary licence for a project to use digital transaction technologies for notary, in order to make it easy for citizens and residents to complete their judicial transactions under the current conditions, and to preserve safety of the judicial authorities’ visitors.

In addition, it has been approved to extend the validity of government services ending on March 1, 2020, or within the time limit specified in this decision for a period of three months, which can be extended. This will take effect from April 1, 2020, as this decision applies to renewal for all federal government services, including documents, permits, licences, commercial records and the likes.
