The Department of Municipalities and Transport has decided to double the quantities of subsidized food distributed to beneficiaries of Ramadhan Meer, as part of its commitment to societal responsibility, and to devote concepts of solidarity among members of the Emirati society.
The department has announced that “The food items for the beneficiaries of Ramadhan Meer will be available in the participating societies, and the food commodity distribution centers for the municipalities from the first of April, until the end of next May, coinciding with the holy month.”. Beneficiaries will also be able to benefit from the service of “Sales Outlets Support” launched by the Transport Integrated Center, which will provide goods delivery services via taxis in coordination with all outlets across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Citizen families that benefit from the Ramadhan Meer will be able to choose the subsidized foodstuffs and commodities, from more than 200 commodities.
The department has started to double the amount of subsidized rice, and all the food for citizen families for two months, where a family of 10 individuals will be able to get 6 bags of 40 kilograms rice instead of the previous 3 bags, and the family of 20 individuals will be able to get 10 Bags of rice instead of 5 the previous bags of rice and so on.
The value of the subsidized 40 kg rice bag is Dhs126, including tax, at Dhs3.14 per kilogram, while the price of basmati rice in the market is up to Dhs10 for kilogram.
Beneficiaries will be able to order food commodities through the digital platform (Smart Hub) launched by the Department within the project of digital transformation of services to facilitate procedures for citizens and provide a modern model of services that suit the needs of customers and society and achieve their ambition. This will include the municipalities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and the Municipality of Al Dhafra Region.
The platform is characterized by ease of use, and enablement of obtaining food commodity services digitally without the need to show any identification papers, identity cards or special documents, due to the full link of data with the Smart Systems and Services Authority, that makes full information on every family registered in the list of families benefiting from subsidized commodities available on the platform.
Digital electronic services for the subsidized commodities including purchasing and receiving can be obtained by opening an account on the smart platform “Smart Hub”, choosing the service of purchasing the subsidized commodities, then selecting the required commodities to be purchased, and paying the value of the goods, finally to decide either going to the specified center or to choose home delivery service.
Dubai Police, in cooperation with the Community Development Authority, CDA, has launched ‘Secure Together’, a community-centred service that offers rapid response to requests for assistance from the elderly across Dubai.
The move follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to provide full support and care for senior citizens and residents, and the close follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
The new service will prioritise requests from seniors to Dubai Police’s command and control centre for essential support and services including medical aid, disinfection and sanitation services at their residences.
Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Commissioner General of the Citizen Services Pillar of Dubai Council Lieutenant-General Abdullah Al Marri said the country’s leadership places the highest priority on meeting the vital needs of senior citizens, both nationals and expatriates.
“The initiative seeks to respond to their urgent requirements in this critical period during which we have an even greater responsibility to take care of this vulnerable segment of society. Serving the community and working constantly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of people are some of Dubai Police’s key duties. We will spare no effort to fulfil these responsibilities,” he said.
An updated database of places of residence of the elderly has been developed to help authorities respond rapidly to urgent requests and emergencies, and provide them with social support and care.
