The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has decided to suspend metro and tram service from April 5.
In a media circular, the statement reads, “In support to the government’s efforts to contain COVID-19, the Roads and Transport Authority has announced the temporary closure (complete shutdown) of all stations on the metro Red and Green lines effectively 5th April 2020 until further notice. Serco Dubai Metro Retail Support Team will notify all valued retailers once we get a confirmation from all concerned authorities if it id safe to reopen.”
During this period, there will be no access granted neither any other activities will be allowed in the stations during this period including home delivery.
It also said, “We urge you to inform your staff to stay at their respective homes.”
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention announced another 241 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of patients to 1,505.
According to the spokesperson for the UAE health sector, Dr Farida Al Hosani, the country has recorded one more death, bringing the country’s death toll to 10.
The UAE has extended the overnight sterilization programme indefinitely to disinfect public areas to fight the spread of coronavirus.
