Light to heavy Rain of different intensity fell on scattered areas of the country on Monday, as result of impact of a surface air depression from the southwest, coinciding with an upper low air extension from the northwest. It dragged clouds that towered over southwest separate parts of the country interspersed with some rainy cumulus clouds, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
It said that rain fell on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Khalifa City, Al Rahba, Yas Island, Samha, Bahia, Shalila, and Al Falah in Abu Dhabi, Ruwais in the Al Dhafra Region, Madam and Al Siyouh in Sharjah, Dubai city, Rems in Ras Al Khaimah, and Tuyyen in Fujairah.
The NCM indicated that the weather until Wednesday would be generally partially cloudy to cloudy, with opportunities for rain at times, especially on the western and coastal parts and islands. Some northern and eastern areas may also witness rainfall, and clouds are expected to gradually decrease from Wednesday noon, it added.
“The wind will be moderate to active and sometimes strong especially on the sea and with the cumulus clouds towering over some areas where the horizontal visibility could be affected due to stirred dust and sand,” the NCM said.
The sea condition is expected to be medium to rough, especially with clouds in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.
The Centre also advised the motorists to exercise caution when driving during rainfall and to stay away from the areas that see surface runoffs, in addition to be cautious when the horizontal visibility is low.
The weather on Tuesday is expected to partly cloudy especially eastward and northward to fair in general. Light to moderate northerly to northwesterly winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust, with a speed of 18–28, reaching 38km/hr. Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
The NCM is also expecting that the weather on Wednesday will be fair to partly cloudy. Humid at night and Friday morning especially westward. Light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds, with a speed of 18–25, reaching 38km/hr. Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
