The management of the Mercato mall in Dubai has announced its Ramadan initiative to support UAE communities during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The initiative is in partnership with Dubai Police with the aim of helping the communities to meet the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic more effectively.
Mercato is adapting its Corporate Social Responsibility partnership with Dubai Police in creating and distributing “Personal Safety” kits – that include sanitiser solutions, gloves and masks. Under this solidarity initiative, 3,000 packs have been supplied by Mercato to Dubai Police for their discretionary use. Police forces in Dubai are highly mobilised in this context, and in turn, some of the packs have been distributed among the Mercato and Town Centre Jumeriah visitors by Dubai Police personnel.
Nisreen Boustani, Public Relations and Corporate Communication Manager at Mercato and Town Centre Jumeirah, said: “Mercato is pleased to partner with Dubai Police and support the communities by distributing safety kits containing personal protective equipment such as masks, and gloves as well as hand sanitisers to help protect members of the society.”
During the awareness campaign, a series of activities besides printed material distribution will be conducted for visitors and communities residing in the surrounding areas of Jumeirah.
However, in line with government recommendations, BurJuman has reopened its doors to welcome visitors back as it operates reduced hours, from 12 pm to 10 pm. Essential services continue to operate with extended hours as before. Strict regulatory precautions have been placed, which includes wearing masks at all times, limiting mall visit time for individuals to a maximum of 3 hours and practising social distancing while in the mall. BurJuman has also increased its already active cleaning and sterilization routine and placed health and safety signages across the mall to ensure all guidelines are followed.
“The health and well-being of our customers, employees, retail partners, and the communities we serve are always our top priorities. We are closely monitoring updates from the Dubai Economic Department (DED), and following guidelines put into place by the Government. We ask that the public exercise good judgement when visiting BurJuman, including following all guidelines for social distancing and hygiene practices. We also ask that anyone who does not feel well ensures that their whole family or physical contact group stays at home in order to keep everyone safe,” said the BurJuman Management.
