The doctors and medical staff in one of the hospitals run by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) succeeded in saving an Arab mother and her newborn from the coronavirus.
The child was diagnosed with the virus and, being a day old, is considered the youngest coronavirus patient in the UAE.
The medical staff celebrated on Wednesday the recovery of the mother, Raneen Abu Zaher, 28, and her son, and their discharge from the hospital.
Seha said on Twitter, “Raneen and her newborn son, Jad, beat COVID-19.
“The baby was one day old when he tested positive. Another joyful story from Abu Dhabi.”
The mother of the child, Jad, said: "I was told a day after giving birth, on April 8th, that the results of our tests to detect the coronavirus were positive, and I could not see my newborn at the time, as he was treated for two weeks, and was put in a separate unit in the hospital.”

Jad was born with a congenital heart disorder that also required constant monitoring, in addition to having the coronavirus.
Raneen said that after the tests, which confirmed she was positive, she remained in the hospital for sometime. And upon confirmation of the stability of her condition, Raneen was transferred to a quarantine hotel.
She underwent a second examination, which showed the result as negative, meaning that she was recovering.
The child however had to be kept in hospital for further monitoring of his condition, until he left in good health and without any complications.

Raneen added, "When the doctors at the hospital told me that I had corona, I collapsed completely and could not stop crying. I was shocked, especially since I did not experience any symptoms during pregnancy.
“I used to regularly sterilise the house and no one left the house except for extreme necessity.”
Raneen is a housewife.
Jad's mother stressed that what she went through was one of the most difficult experiences that a mother could undergo, especially since she had no relatives or any of her family members staying with her, except for her husband.
Raneen has two other children in the house aged 8 and 6.
She was afraid that they would contract the infection but, fortunately, they all tested negative.
