The Abu Dhabi Police arrested a young man, 28, for driving his car recklessly in violation of traffic laws. The driver decided to show off how fast he could drive most hazardously on the public road in Musaffah.
The vehicle was seized and the driver was referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
Drivers tending to show off, squeal and make dangerous movements while driving their vehicle as well as gathering and participating in watching or even sharing videos showing such movements on social media would be held legally accountable, the police said.

The police urged young people to abide by the laws, act responsibly and have a sense of belonging, loyalty and dedication to their country by keeping roads in good condition, preserving public and private property and not jeopardizing their safety and that of others. They also urged them to promote positive behaviours as these would contribute to reducing serious traffic accidents and the resulting serious injuries and deaths.
The police pointed out that driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers the life of the driver or the lives of others, jeopardizes their safety and security or causes public or private property to be vandalized would incur a fine of Dhs2,000 plus 23 black points and impoundment of the vehicle for 60 days.
