Sharjah Police General Directorate has successfully tracked down three people who were missing after they got lost in Khor Fakkan’s mountains on Saturday.
The search and rescue mission was carried out after a report was filed on Saturday, May 9, stating that two 33-year-old women, of Belarusian and Latvian nationalities, and a 35-year-old Arab man, were missing after going on a trip to the mountainous areas.
The search was organised by Sharjah Police’s Eastern Region Police Department, teaming up with Civil Defence teams, aircraft teams of the National Search and Rescue Centre and Coast Guard of the Eastern Region.
The two women were first found by rescue teams. Both were found in a good condition, while the Arab man was found dead. The body was immediately transferred to forensics to determine the cause of death.
The rescue mission lasted for a couple of hours until the two women were found, and immediate medical care was provided to ensure their wellbeing.
An investigation is being carried out by police to learn about the reason behind their disappearance and the death of the Arab national.
Colonel Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, urged all citizens and residents to stay home and adhere to the safety guidelines and precautions during the current situation of COVID-19.
