Hindus join call to pray for humanity

The Hindu community in Abu Dhabi has announced their support for the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity’s call to pray for humanity on May 14, 2020.

Pujya Brahmavihari Swami, Leader of the Hindu Community and Head of BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, expressed his pride of joining the prayer called for by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, describing it as an inspirational initiative to get humanity at large united in the face of the COVID-19 onslaught.

The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity issued a statement calling for the prayer, supplication and fasting.

His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church and Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, and other prominent religious, political, and societal figures announced their support and participation in the global initiative.

Meanwhile, Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, has announced his participation in the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity’s call to pray for the good of all humanity on May 14 to end the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Archbishop of Canterbury called on everyone from all religions to seek help from God and pray to him on May 14 to end this pandemic, using the hashtag launched by the Committee to participate in this event, #prayForHumanity.

On Monday, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the participation of President Joko Widodo in the initiative by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity calling on people around the world to do good deeds, observe a fast, pray, and make devout supplications to God Almighty on May 14 to end the coronavirus pandemic.

The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity has invited all religious leaders and people around the world to respond to this call and together beseech God Almighty to safeguard the entire world, to help us overcome this pandemic, to restore security, stability, health, and prosperity.

The ministry said President Joko Widodo, ministers and religious leaders will join the “prayer for Humanity.”

Widodo will open the event, which will be broadcasted on state TV and by certain private broadcasters.

Earlier, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) announced its participation in an initiative to pray and fast for humanity.
