Sharjah to reopen drivers' training, testing institutes after Eid holidays

The Sharjah Police on Wednesday announced the reopening of driving training institutes in the emirate to provide training and testing services immediately after Eid Al Fitr holidays within the precautionary controls and procedures in place in the country, to curb the outbreak of COVID-19.

Lieutenant Colonel Majed Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, Sharjah Police, stated that this step comes under the directives of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, and within the leadership’s endeavor to provide distinguished services for the public.

He also said that the drivers testing section would start operations after the Eid Al Fitr holidays, with not more than 30 per cent of its capacity.

Al Nuaimi confirmed that the Sharjah Police have set some preventive requirements for individuals seeking to obtain a driver’s licence, including subject to sterilisation and thermal monitoring devices available at the service centers, sterilizing hands every 30 minutes, and wearing masks and gloves.

"In addition, adhering to the physical distancing at the waiting hall and places of fees payment to maintain their health and safety," he added.

Al Nuaimi urged the audience to adhere to the preventive measures to ensure their protection and the employees’ as well, which will positively reflect on the health and safety of society as whole.
