Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council and The Big Heart Foundation Humanitarian Envoy, has promptly extended his wholehearted support to the recently-launched ‘Support Knows No Safe Distance’ coronavirus (COVID-19) response fundraiser officially announced by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of TBHF, which seeks to support healthcare capacities in refugee and internally displaced people sites (IDP) in Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Bangladesh and Kenya, along with monitoring the latest developments in the health situation across various refugee and (IDP) sites around the world.

The global fundraiser led by TBHF will also offer food supplies to workers and families from different nationalities residing in the UAE who have been affected directly or indirectly by the spread of COVID-19.

Wasting no time in responding to the global call HH Sheikha Jawaher, UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children made in the last week of April, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed was the first prominent UAE official to record a message on his social media accounts expressing full support for the campaign, and strongly encouraged others to donate.
“With the continued spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, many are facing severe repercussions,” he said, in a video message, adding, “refugees in overcrowded camps worldwide struggle to access basics like food, clean water, healthcare.
“By extending our full support to refugees and the needy, we will redefine the meaning of distances,” he added.
The fundraiser strengthens healthcare of refugees in several countries.
To conclude his message, the TBHF Humanitarian Envoy nominated his peers in the Sharjah Government to pledge their support to the campaign, saying “let us spread goodness in the month of goodness [Ramadan].”
Many prominent local officials have already responded to the Sheikh’s call and published messages on their social media accounts spreading awareness on the key objectives of the campaign, and encouraged individuals, communities, nations, governments and businesses around the world to extend their charitable donations this campaign. They include Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Chairman, Department of Government Relations; Major General Saif Mohammad Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in -Chief of Sharjah Police; Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, Secretary General of Supreme Council for Family Affairs; Aisha Al Bairaq, member of the Federal National Council; Dr. Hamad Al Hammady, Emirati author, and a number of media personalities including Ahmed Yamahi, Mohammaed Al Kaabi, and Khalid Safar.

The page contains details of the various donation channels like text messages and bank transfers. TBHF has not set a minimum or maximum limit to the donation value with the aim of providing everyone an opportunity to contribute as per their willingness and capability.
