Sharjah Municipality has ordered all restaurants, bakeries and cafeteria in the Emirate to install CCTV cameras inside the food preparation areas.
Move aims to tighten the control on the methods of food preparation and to ensure the implementation of all health requirements to safeguard customers’ health and safety.
Sharjah Municipality has set number of conditions for the camera installation procedure.
The storage time capacity of the cameras must not be less than six months.
Eateries must allow food inspectors the access of camera recordings.
Restaurants and cafeteria are also warned against erasing the camera records without written approval from the Food Control Section.
All eateries have been given six months from the date of publishing this notice to install the cameras.
All the owners are required to submit an undertaking to the concerned authority to abide by the conditions set by Sharjah Municipality.
