The Jebel Ali Police Station settled cheque cases worth Dhs40 million in its jurisdiction area during the first five months of this year.
According to Brigadier Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Jebel Ali Police Station, the cases included Dhs19 million in commercial cheques and Dhs21 million personal cheques.
“This value of cheques reflects the growth of transactions in light of the precautionary measures enforced in the world, in addition, it translates success of Dubai in handling ramifications of COVID-19 by combating its impact on the economic sectors in general,” Al Suwaidi added.
The station was able to settle a large number of cheque cases amicably that reached 303, including 158 commercial and 145 personal, he said.
He further noted that the number of cheques involved in those cases reached 395, with 246 commercial and 149 personal.
“As a police station serving several industrial and commercial areas with hundreds of establishments and factories that conduct many of transactions on a daily basis, it is natural to receive many cheque complaints, most of them have been settled amicably,” Al Suwaidi added.
He also noted those cases are settled by a competent team, which works on reconciling the involved parties in order to reach amicable solutions, and not to escalate the matter to the judicial departments.
