Major General Saif Al-Zari Al-Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, directed its agencies to provide adequate housing to accommodate 280 Indian workers after they lost their jobs in different companies.
Major General Saif Al-Zari Al-Shamsi inspected the workers' residence in Hadera Camp, and supervised the implementation of all procedures and assured their health conditions.
The action was taken after a note was received by the Sharjah Police via the "Direct Line" radio programme, stating that there was a group of workers residing in a building under construction in one of the emirate's industrial areas, during the peak of summer.
Maj. Gen. Al-Shamsi indicated that the competent authorities of Sharjah Police were immediately instructed to provide adequate housing for these workers in Sharjah Police Academy and other centres.
Maj. Gen. Al-Shamsi also instructed that the workers should be provided all the means of a decent life for them, taking into account the guarantee of their stay in a healthy manner, consistent with the precautionary and health measures taken by the UAE and Sharjah due to coronavirus.
Maj. Gen. Al-Shamsi also praised the efforts made by the Sharjah Charity Association, and its speedy response to help in such humanitarian situations, and work to provide the necessary support to face such emergencies.

The Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police stated that the authorities immediately communicated with the Consulate General of the country to which the workers belonged.
The authorities coordinated with them on the mechanism that ensures the return of workers to their homeland, or change their status so they can work in the country.
