The Dubai Police have arrested a man who stabbed a taxi driver only within 20 minutes of the attack was reported. According to Brigadier Ali Ghanem, director of Al-Muraqqabat police station, the stabber, an Arab national, had hired a cab from Ajman to Riggat Al Buteen in Dubai, before he got into an argument with the driver about the fare. "The man decided to leave the cab without paying the fare and ran away to a nearby building. The driver then decided to pursue the man and followed him to the building" Brig. Ghanem said.
"The man got in the elevator, and the driver went after him climbing the stairs. When they finally met, the offender attacked the driver with a knife and stabbed his arm multiple times," Brig. Ghanem continued.

"As the Command and Control Room at Dubai received the driver's emergency call, a patrol from Al-Muraqqabat police station rushed to the scene and arrived within two minutes."
"The patrol officers secured the exits until they were followed by a duty officer and some detectives who swept the building and caught the offender hiding in the electricity room," the director of Al-Muraqqabat police station added.
Brig. Ghanem confirmed that the driver sustained a moderate injury and he was transferred to a hospital for treatment.
For his part, Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al-Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, hailed the fast response of the police patrol who contributed to taking in the offender before he flees the building. "Dubai Police prioritize attending to every crime report as fast as possible, deal with it professionally, arrest the offenders and bring them to justice," he said.
