An employee of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), identified as M.S.R, has been arrested over corruption crimes, which he committed in complicity with two Emiratis known as Kh.S.M and T.H.Gh and one Indian known as S.A.Kh.
According to a statement issued by the MoI on Monday evening, the Federal Criminal Police at the MoI arrested the suspects after their crimes had been detected through the monitoring and control system for administrative procedures and information security.
The MoI stated that the suspects were extorting individuals through falsely claiming to them that their names were listed among the wanted persons, so they would not be able to travel, work, or obtain residence visas for them or for their families, unless they paid money to get their names removed from the list.
They were seized immediately after the internal control teams at the Ministry detected and verified attempts of non-authorized employees to use the system outside scope of the tasks assigned to them.
They have been accordingly referred to the concerned authorities, the MoI confirmed.
