Members of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah, Dubai, the local chapter of global philanthropy and social service organisation, has renewed its pledge to serve the local community as well as people outside the UAE facing challenges due to the Covid19 outbreak.
Outlining the goals for the year 2020-21, newly-elected president of the club Dr Bharat Butaney pointed out that Rotary Club of Jumeirah intends to diversify its service projects to even include support for needy communities fighting the Covid19 outbreak.
Highlighting achievements of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah together with its youth wing The Rotaract, Butaney said that the group supports Senses Dubai — a centre for children with special needs, an old age home, and also supported the Community Development Authority of Dubai (CDA) in its initiative to provide ration and toiletries for senior citizens in Dubai during lockdown.

The group has been contributing for several projects outside the UAE as well. Among the important international humanitarian projects the group has been supporting are an orphanage in Nepal, a water project in Uganda, a surgical camp in Ghana for correction of congenital Orthopaedic deformities in children.
The Rotary Club of Jumeirah is part of the Association of Rotary Clubs of UAE that is affiliated with The Rotary International headquartered in the United States. Other three groups under the association are the Rotary Club of Dubai, Rotary Club of Cosmopolitan and Rotary Club of Palm.
Hussain Al Jaziri, President of the Association of Rotary Clubs of UAE, said, "Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million professionals and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves. Globally, the 35,000+ Rotary clubs work together to promote peace, fight disease, eradicate polio, provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, protect environment and grow local economies.”
Deputy District Governor for the Rotary District 2452 David Gibson appreciated enthusiasm of the new board and said that great achievements have been realised by the Rotary club of Jumeirah and that it is all set to achieve new heights in its endeavours to serve the community.
Expressing his confidence, Assistant District Governor Osama Abdulla Gargash said that Butaney, a veteran Rotarian dedicated to the Rotarian cause, will drive the club forward to achieve its goals.
