VIDEO: Sharjah’s last coronavirus patient recovers, gets a rousing farewell

The Expo Centre Sharjah, which was turned into a field hospital for COVID-19 patients, has been closed on Thursday, after recovery of the last patient, an Indian national, who was being quarantined at the centre.
The last patient left the centre amid a farewell ceremony involving the medical and nursing cadres of the centre.
They celebrated triumphing over this virus, as the centre witnessed recovery of 6,000 patients from COVID-19.
The 2,000-bed-Sharjah Field Hospital was managed by 63 doctors and 170 nurses along with administrative cadres that worked as a beehive day and night.
Last week, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, visited the Expo Centre Sharjah, that has been turned into the headquarters of the free medical examination campaign for COVID-19.The Deputy Commander of Sharjah Police was briefed on the procedures of conducting medical examinations.
Brigadier Bin Amer praised the great response and the increasing demand from members of the public for the testing.
The free medical examination campaign is the first step to get all residents of the Emirates tested for COVID-19.
Accordingly to a specific schedule, conditions were established to ensure protection and safety for all residents of the Emirate.
Brigadier Bin Amer praised the community initiatives and the continuous support provided by the Preventive Medicine Department to conduct free medical examinations, to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
Adding that the campaign aims to detect the virus in accordance with specific procedures and conditions, ensuring the safety of all residents, in order to check on their health and freedom from the virus, by obtaining a free official result, which many of them were unable to obtain under that exceptional circumstances.
