An Asian valet driver, 25 years old, was jailed and referred to the criminal court for stealing Dhs75,000 from the vehicle of the hotel guest.The victim testified that he had received the amount from a customer, and had kept it in his vehicle’s side-door compartment, then headed to a hotel in Jumeirah and checked his car into the valet service. On the same day, he headed back to his vehicle to find out that the money was missing. Accordingly, he filed a police report, and investigations revealed that the defendant was the one who stole the money from the victim’s vehicle.
Separately, a 33-year-old Asian salesman was arrested and referred to the criminal court, for sexually assaulting his female colleague by installing a camera inside the washroom to film her. The victim testified that on a usual work day, she head to staff washroom to use it, and after she was done she grabbed the bathroom’s mop to clean the floor and was surprised to see a small camera falling off the mop. She took the camera with her and informed her female colleague about it, who in turn confirmed that the camera had a memory card inside and was filming the whole time. The victim took the camera back to her home to use her laptop to know its contents, and was surprised to see the defendant in the video while he was installing the camera minutes before she used the washroom. She immediately went to the police station to file a report against the defendant, and he was arrested for his heinous act.
Recently, the Dubai Criminal Court looked into the case of an Asian gang of 9 people who seized 566 wraps of copper wire worth Dhs118,000 from a contracting company warehouse. Details of the incident date back to December 2019, when a policeman stated that he had interrogated a number of suspects, who confessed to the theft, conniving with other suspects. The policeman added the suspects confessed to watching the warehouse located in the Al Quoz area closely. Later, they headed to it at night in two vehicles. After they arrived at the warehouse site, they broke the warehouse door lock and raided it. The court ordered jail for the suspects.
