Heavy rain batters several areas of Al Ain on Friday evening, bring the temperatures down by a few notches.
Al Ain Downtown, Khatm Al Shiklah, Al Hili, Al Jimi, Al Sarooj, Al Ain city centre witnessed good rain.
UAE weather body the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said, “Convective clouds associated with rainfall and fresh winds, reaching 50 km/ hr causing blowing dust and sand with poor horizontal visibility at times till 23:30 tonight 24/07/2020.”
The rain accompanied by strong winds made it difficult for motorists.
The visibility was affected, prompting authorities to issue weather alerts for road users.
The lowest temperature recorded over the UAE on Friday was at 21.4 °C in Jabal Mebreh at 6am.
The highest temperature recorded over the country today was at 43.4°C in Saih Al Salem at 3:30pm.
The NCM had earlier issued warning for sea goers.
It said, “Rough sea in the Western Arabian Gulf due to fresh Southeasterly wind reaching to 40 km / hr at times with wave height reaching to 6 ft at times until 18:00 pm Friday 24 / 07 / 2020.”
Authorities have urged residents to avoid sea on such days.
There were no reports of any accident.
