The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) on Thursday announced that Sunday, August 23, would be a holiday on the occasion of the New Hijri Year.
The holiday will follow a weekend giving private sector employees a long three-day weekend.
The Ministry said on its twitter account, "On the occasion of Hijri New Year 1442, MoHRE announces that Sunday, 23rd of August, will be a paid leave for all employees working in private sector establishments and facilities across the UAE."
Also the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced on Thursday that Sunday, August 23, would be a holiday for the public sector in the country.
It said, “It has been decided that Hijri New Year holiday for the year 1442 in the Federal Government of the UAE will be on Sunday, 23rd of August, and regular working hours will resume on Monday, 24th of August, 2020.”
