The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in cooperation with the Sharjah Police has allocated 16 sites in various commercial centres in the emirate to offer free COVID-19 screening for one day each, confirmed Captain Saleh Ali Belhaj, Supervisor of Covid-19 Screening Sites in Sharjah.
The move comes to cover the widest range and conducting COVID-19 screening for the largest possible number of people in various regions of the emirate.
“The new temporary sites work for 8 hours continuously for only one day in each centre throughout 8 days in different commercial centres with two centres per day, according to prior plans in coordination with the centres' departments,” Belhaj added.
He also explained that the commercial centres had been chosen as sites for conducting the screening, because they are the most attractive place for people, for being a shopping destination and for their locations near neighbourhoods. In addition, they include parking lots that make it easier for people to come and conduct the checks.

On Monday, Matajer Centre in Al Quoz, and another in Matajer Centre in Al Gerema area, will be available for free screening, while on Tuesday Lulu Centre near Al Buhairah and Ramez Centre will host the facility of COVID-19 screening for 8 hours. “The 16 sites were equipped to be able to accommodate the people wishing to subject to COVID-19 screening over a period of 8 hours, with a capacity of 600 people per day,” he added.
He also explained that the results of the free screening provided by those sites are issued within a maximum of 48 hours from the screening time, either by SMSs or via “Al Hosn" application, confirming that these tests are valid and accredited for the various procedures required within the country.
