A gang of eight men — African and Asian nationals, were arrested for beating up a man and robbing him of Dhs3,585,000.
On the day of the incident, the victim was carrying the money in a bag and heading to Al Nahda to trade for US dollars from an office in the area.
While he waited inside his vehicle, he was approached by an African man who was asking to see the amount of money to finish the trading process.
Afterwards, the African man stated that he will send someone along with the victim to collect dollars.
The victim headed to the mentioned office with the company of that man, and was surprised to see been surrounded by two other men.
The men blocked the office’s main entrance and back door, and suddenly the man accompanying the victim forcibly pulled the money bag and punched the victim hard in the chest.
The three defendants instantly fled the scene and the victim failed to catch any of them.
While the victim was looking for them in the surrounding area, he was approached by a CID officer who asked about the incident and immediately helped the victim to file a report about the robbery.
Police successfully identified and arrested the defendants, and the victim confirmed their identity in a police line-up, to later be punished for their action.
