VIDEO: Al Ain experiences heavy rain, Al Dhaid records 46.7°C

Heavy rain was witnessed in the Al Ain region on Tuesday afternoon, bringing in much relief to residents from the scorching heat.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said, “Moderate to heavy rain over Um Ghafa, Khatam Al Shaklah, Al-Dhahir and nearby areas in Al Ain was experienced.
Residents in the area took some time off their work and rushed to the site of the rain to enjoy the weather.
A video showed streams of cars in Al Ain moving slowly in the rain.
A NCM video showed herdsmen with camels marching along a sandy stretch in the rain.
The NCM said on its Twitter account, “Chance of rainy convective clouds formation associated with fresh winds with speed of 45 km/hr, causing blowing dust and sand with poor horizontal visibility at times over some eastern and southern areas of Al Ain region from 15:40 until 19:00 Tuesday 18/08/2020.”
The lowest temperature recorded over the country on Tuesday was 25.6°C in Jabal Al Heben at 7:45am.
The highest temperature recorded over the country was 46.7°C in Al Dhaid at 02:15pm.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution in the streets, avoid overspending and abide by traffic laws.
