Asian arrested for impersonating a cop and robbing a man of Dhs6,000 in Dubai

A 19-year-old Asian was arrested and referred to criminal court for impersonating a police officer and robbing a man his belongings with the help of accomplices.

Official records indicate that the victim, who’s working as a security guard, was interrupted by the defendant and his accomplices, who tricked him into believing they were undercover police officer.

The defendants asked to see the victim’s ID, and as soon as they noticed the Dhs6,000 in the victim’s wallet, they asked him about the money source.

The scared victim stated that the money was transferred to him by a family member, and used his phone to prove his statement.

One of the defendants suddenly grabbed the phone and took the wallet, then threatened the victim saying “Is your money more valuable than your life?”

The 19 year-old defendant was later arrested by police, and during investigation, he confessed that he had planned to roam around in his vehicle along with the runaway accomplices in the intention of mugging random people in the street.
