The Ras Al Khaimah Police announced on Thursday the launch of an initiative to reduce the accumulated traffic fines committed during 2019 and before by 50%.
The decision will take effect from 1st of September and continue 1st of October 2020. Serious violations will be excluded from the decision, the police confirmed.
“This initiative comes in line with the Ministry of Interior's strategy aimed at imposing the rule of law to control road security, and within the framework of Ras Al Khaimah Police initiatives seeking to thrill the community members in all segments,” RAK Police said.
The motorists will receive the discount during the electronic payment through the MoI application, while they must visit the nearest service centre in the country for violations that contain traffic points to be added to the driving license, so that he they can then pay them electronically, the police said.
The police explained that the initiative excludes the serious violations such as driving a vehicle light or heavy in a way that endangers life, safety and security of its driver or others, running away from a traffic cop and disturbing others by driving a noisy vehicle.
“This initiative is considered a continuation of the initiative launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Police five years ago, specifically in 2015 to reduce traffic fines to enhance traffic safety on the roads,” the police added.
The Ras Al Khaimah Police call on all owners of violating vehicles to take advantage of the grace period and to expedite the legal settlement of their traffic conditions, in order to ensure traffic safety for all members of society.
