Man jailed for stealing Dhs7,000 from mobile shop

A 28-year-old Asian visitor was jailed and referred to a criminal court for breaking into a mobile shop in Dubai and stealing cash with the help of a runaway accomplice.
Official records indicate that the defendant broke into the shop using a screwdriver and managed to steal Dhs7,000 from the cash counter.
He also took two keys and two cheques that belong to the salesman.
The victim testified that he had received a phone call from his colleague, informing him about the break-in incident.
He immediately reported the robbery to the police, who started investigating and reviewing surveillance cameras.
Police managed to identify the defendant, who was already detained for committing a similar felony. Upon being questioned, he confessed to robbing the mobile shop with the help of another accomplice.
Accordingly, he was detained and referred to the criminal court, and is now facing robbery charges.
Last month, a 25-year-old Asian valet driver was jailed and referred to the criminal court for stealing Dhs75,000 from the vehicle of a hotel guest.
The victim testified that he had received the amount from a customer, and had kept it in his vehicle’s side-door compartment, then headed to a hotel in Jumeirah and checked his car into the valet service.
On the same day, he headed back to his vehicle to find out that the money was missing. Accordingly, he filed a police report, and investigations revealed that the defendant was the one who stole the money from the victim’s vehicle.
Also, a 33-year-old Asian salesman was arrested and referred to the criminal court, for sexually assaulting his female colleague by installing a camera inside the washroom to film her.
The victim testified that on a usual work day, she head to staff washroom to use it, and after she was done she grabbed the bathroom’s mop to clean the floor and was surprised to see a small camera falling off the mop. She took the camera with her and informed her female colleague about it, who in turn confirmed that the camera had a memory card inside and was filming the whole time.
