12% of virus cases in the UAE came from abroad

The UAE National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said that 12 per cent of coronavirus cases in the UAE came from abroad.

NCEMA said, “12 per cent of cases and infections during the past two weeks were discovered in individuals coming from outside the UAE, despite having negative results in their country of departure.

“88 per cent of the injuries were due to contact and gatherings.”

The UAE Ministry of Health reported 930 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday.

The infections were the result of non-compliance with preventive measures.

The previous rate includes 10% of infections discovered from prior examinations of administrative and educational staff in schools, parents and students who chose to return to school.

Among the factors associated with the causes of the increase is leniency in abiding by preventive measures such as physical distancing and wearing masks.

NCEMA said, “Another factor is the failure of some malls and shops to take precautionary measures, such as the application of reduced capacity.

“We observed that some individuals ignored the emergence of symptoms, did not seek medical help and deliberately continued to mix with others.”

There is leniency and complacency in a number of private educational institutions in the UAE, and their failure to implement isolation measures despite the rules set by the Ministry of Education.

Supervision, inspection and accountability for those violating preventive measures will be tightened and fines will be applied based on the decision of the Attorney General.

For every person in contact with a positive case, an approved quarantine protocol must be followed.
