Wedding organisers in Abu Dhabi face prosecution for flouting COVID-19 restrictions

The Abu Dhabi Police have detected a wedding party in a house in violation of the Attorney General’s decision no.38 for 2020 on applying fines and administrative penalties under the Cabinet’s decision no. 17 for 2020.

The Cabinet’s decision to curb the spread of COVID-19 banned or restricted gatherings, meetings or public and private celebrations, gathering in public places, private farms, or manors.

A fine of Dhs10,000 was imposed on the organiser of the wedding and Dhs5,000 on each participant.

The groom, his father and the bride’s father were referred to the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority’s prosecution, where the legal measures were taken against all the participants.

Abu Dhabi Police underlined the necessity of abiding by the Attorney General’s decisions calling for social distancing, keeping away from family gatherings and adhering to the preventive instructions to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
