The Sharjah Police have successfully apprehended an international network of 58 drug traffickers who possessed 153kg of drugs worth Dhs63 million.

Details of the arrest were mentioned during a media conference that was held last Thursday, referring to a police operation called “Qabda 7/7."
Major General Said Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, stated that the operation was one of a kind, since traffickers took advantage of the current COVID-19 critical situation to sneak drugs into the country.
Nevertheless, the switched-on police cadres managed to keep track of the drug operations during the last few months, and successfully arrested each and every member of the gang.
Sharjah Police revealed that they had monitored the gang of traffickers, with confirmed information that drugs were being imported from an Asian country for the purpose of selling.
Accordingly, a surveillance team was deployed to track the gang, who smuggled the drugs through a UAE port, by using the trading licence they were guaranteed to import food products.
Police teams also managed to find out the residence of the gang leader, who used his house to extract “crystal” drugs for selling.
The 58 gang members were ambushed one by one, and drug-trafficking teams successfully seized 153 kg of drugs, including crystal, heroin, hashish, and 69 litres of liquid crystal, all worth Dhs63 million.
Police also tracked 7 different bank accounts which were used by the drug-trafficking gang to collect the money used for their operations.
The gang members confessed to their crime and were referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution to be trailed.
