A fire broke out in a residential building in the Al Khan area of Sharjah on Thursday morning.
Sharjah Police patrol and civil defence teams reached the site.
The civil defence teams put out the blaze in record time. The teams evacuated the building and moved people to safety.
It was reported that the fire broke out on the ninth floor of the building.
The National Ambulance team treated some at the site. Some reported of inhaling smoke.
A Gulf Today staffer who stays in the building said he was woken up by the blaring sound of the fire alarm.

Realising that there was a fire in the building, he rushed out with his wife and children.
Police cordoned off the building. The teams managed the traffic at Al Khan road.
A video available showed a burnt out balcony on the ninth floor.
The police and the forensics teams are investigating the cause of the blaze.
The authorities have urged residents to regularly maintain electrical and fire prevention systems in the building.
They have been urged to fix any faulty electrical systems.
