Quarantine rule breaker caught in Sharjah

The Sharjah Police caught a COVID-19 positive person, who violated quarantine rules and brought him back to isolation under tightened control.

The necessary legal measures against him have been taken in line with the preventive and precautionary measures in force in the country to curb the spread of COVID-19, and to ensure the safety and security of the community members.

Brigadier General Al Naour stressed that there was no tolerance for violations that threaten the safety of individuals, noting that 2,437 people had been caught in violation of the precautionary measures in force to limit the spread of the virus, and 2,486 notices were issued against them in 15 days.

"Among the most notably violations committed were non-wearing masks, failing to abide by physical distancing in closed public places, shopping centers and public transport, as well as exceeding the permissible number of passengers in private cars," he added.

Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Central Operations of Sharjah Police and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management in Sharjah, stated that a person who had been tested positive for COVID-19 and was booked under quarantine, had been seized by the security teams after he had broken the quarantine tenets.

He reportedly violated the regulations and laws that require infected persons with the virus to remain isolated from their families and society, and not to be in contact with them in order not to endanger their lives.

Al Naour pointed out anyone who violated the home quarantine instructions, according to the home quarantine guide, re-examination based on sanitary procedures, or failure to abide by them would be punished with a fine of Dhs50,000.

Earlier, the Department of Health — Abu Dhabi revealed that the number of quarantine sites that have been allocated and established to treat and provide the necessary health care and support for those infected with COVID-19 and their contacts have reached more than 70,  distributed in various parts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The infrastructure of the emirate has capacity to accommodate more than 150,000 cases from contacts and infected, the Department emphasised.
