Heavy fog blanketed several areas of the UAE on Tuesday morning, prompting authorities to issue weather alert for motorists and morning commuters.
The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) issued a warning, “A chance of fog formation and poor horizontal visibility over some coastal and internal areas."
The NCM said that heavy fog was witnessed over Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah.
“Motorists are advised to take all precautions and follow the traffic regulations.”
The visibility in some areas was less than 50 metres.
A series of videos showed Al Ittihad Street, which connects Sharjah to Dubai, blanketed in thick fog reducing visibility to dangerous levels.

Sharjah Police warned drivers to exercise caution in the streets while driving due to the fog and low horizontal visibility.
Police called upon motorists to leave a sufficient distance between vehicles, reduce speed, and remain alert on the road to handle any situation.
On Monday morning, a massive accident took place on Emirates Road due to heavy fog, involving 21 vehicles that were travelling towards Umm Al Quwain.
Police patrols and ambulances rushed to the scene to handle the situation, and thankfully, the wide-scale accident resulted in minor injuries to two individuals only, while all other passengers and drivers remained safe.
According to police the accident took place at around 7:50am.
